Your pin-stickers guide to the predictions league participants, their previous record and their prospects for this season's competition.

 Aodan

Born: Cork. Occupation: IT Management Guru (Exact Details Confidential).
Supports: Arsenal    Record: Twice runner up - 1999/2000 and 2000/01, slipped to fourth in 2001/02.

Strengths: Vast football knowledge gained through years of couch potato football viewing.  Recently purchased top of the range TV and video with this in mind and will also use them to aid in title challenge this season.

Weaknesses: Continues to underperform in league. Finds it difficult to manage twin responsibilities of predictions league and betting interests.  Prone to dosing off in recliner chair when he should be evaluating teams on TV.

Likely Odds: 7/2

Ray

Born: Cork.   Occupation: Advanced CMOS Specialist (Computer Geek).
Supports: Leeds United  Record: Third in 1999/2000, 2000/01 and 2001/02.

Strengths: Lack of success in recent seasons should ensure that he is fully focused this time round. Led league for most of last season, but his form dipped in the crunch period of the final run in.  Now rumoured to be using advanced programming techniques to aid in his predictions challenge.

Weaknesses: Has quit 'rat race' and now lives abroad in relative obscurity. Has invested heavily to gain access to live tv coverage in order to gauge team form but past biases continue to haunt his predictions choices.

Has ruined chances in previous years by letting heart rule head in predicting certain key fixtures. Remains to be seen if lessons have been learned. Compulsive late riser on weekends, so must make predictions a day in advance, meaning he risks missing crucial last minute pre-match developments.

Likely Odds: 3/1

Trev

Born: Cork.   Occupation: Agricultural Economist. ( Cow and Muck expert)
Supports: Man United  Record: Twice champion in 1999/2000 and 2000/01.  Runner up 2001/02.

Strengths: Good track record. Happy to lead from the front. Unlikely to buckle easily under a sustained challenge to his title. Failed narrowly to claim title for a record third season in succession. Housewives Favourite.

Weaknesses: Poor starter.  Has had to come from behind for all previous title victories. left himself with too much to do last season. Needs a good start to season if his ambition to regain title are to be realised.

Likely Odds: 2/1

 Dave

Born: Cork.   Occupation: Third Level Engineering Lecturer . (Brickie in a suit)
Supports: Man Utd/Celtic? Record: 100% - winner in 2001/02 in his first apperance in competition

Strengths: The title holder - but claims to be able for the pressure. Expectations may be high but he feels ready for the challenge.

Weaknesses: Still faces many potential distractions in the months ahead. Recently returned from a round the world trip. Withdrawal symptoms from an environment charged with a high concentration of tanned fit women, may be a problem. No access to Sky Sports and rumoured to favour an early evening nap on Saturday, which clashes with start time of new RTE Premiership coverage.

Likely Odds: 6/4 fav

Dec

Born: Cork.   Occupation: Bank Official . (Money launderer)
Supports: Arsenal Record: None - first apperance in competition

Strengths: Something of an Unknown - so under little pressure. Expectations may be low and the element of surprise may yet be his best advantage.

Weaknesses: Strong biases, much like Ray may hamper his success as the weeks roll by

Likely Odds: 9/4
